Currency

Set your default currency and how amounts are displayed — symbol, negative numbers, decimal digits, and decimal format.

The Currency Setup screen controls your default currency and how amounts are written throughout the app. Open the app drawer, tap Settings, then Currency.

Options

  • Default currency — the currency Bluecoins uses as the base for balances and reports. When you change it, Bluecoins asks for the exchange rate to your previous currency (it can also fetch the current rate for you).
  • Display currency — check to show the currency symbol on numbers.
  • Color amount values — tint amount values so income and expenses read differently at a glance.
  • Negative Number — pick how negative amounts are written.
  • Decimal Digits — how many decimal places amounts use (0 to 5).
  • Decimal Format — the decimal separator style, including an automatic option that follows the device locale.

Each option shows its current value as the row subtitle, and changing it is instant — no save button. Pickers open as bottom sheets with the current selection pre-highlighted.

Accounts in other currencies

The default currency is not a limit. Individual accounts can have their own currency and exchange rate, transactions can carry per-entry rates, and net worth is converted to your default currency. See the multi-currency guide for the full picture.

Health advice

If you use one main currency, set it once and leave it — then decide on presentation: display the symbol if raw numbers look ambiguous, and keep decimal digits at 2 for most currencies. If an amount ever looks off — an unexpected minus sign or decimal separator — the Negative Number, Decimal Digits, and Decimal Format rows are where to fix it.
