Reconciliation and transaction status

Match your records to your bank statement — mark transactions cleared or reconciled, compare running balances, and settle an account balance in one step.

Reconciliation is the habit of checking that your Bluecoins records match what your bank says. Every transaction carries a status that supports this: None, Cleared, Reconciled, or Void. As entries appear on your statement, you mark them Cleared; when a statement period is fully checked, the matching transactions become Reconciled. Void marks entries that should not count.

Setting a transaction’s status

The status is a field on the transaction form, alongside amount, category, and account — so you can set it while entering or editing any transaction. See the transactions guide for the form’s other fields.

In a transaction list, you can also long-press a transaction to reconcile it directly — the app surfaces reconciliation as a quick action rather than requiring you to open the entry.

Updating the account balance

The account transactions screen offers an update balance flow that mirrors the end of a statement period. It shows the account’s current (latest) balance, lets you enter the new balance from your statement, and previews the adjustment between the two. From there you can optionally set all transactions to Reconciled in one step — the “settle the account” move — instead of marking each row individually.

Running balances as the cross-check

Bluecoins computes a running balance for each account: each transaction list shows the running balance as it accumulates row by row, and the account timeline charts that balance over time. Comparing the running balance after the last statement entry against the statement’s closing balance is the quickest reconciliation check — if they differ, something is missing or mis-entered.

Filters and imports

  • The filter dialog can show or hide reconciled amounts, so you can look at just the still-unsettled entries while reconciling.
  • CSV import can set a status per row (C, R, or V), so records brought in from a bank export can carry their cleared state. See the import guide for the CSV status column.

What reconciliation is and is not

Bluecoins gives you the status model, the running balances, and the update-balance flow to do the matching yourself — it does not connect to your bank. If your records are complete, the reconciled balance after settlement equals the balance the app computes from the transaction list. The balance sheet guide shows where those account balances feed your net worth.
