Timeline reports
Time-based reporting for all your accounts and categories in one place — balances and spending over time, with filters, drill-down, and export.
The timeline reports show how your money moves over time — account balances and category spending laid out period by period, so you can see the shape of a trend instead of a single number. There are two views: accounts over time and categories over time.
Accounts over time
The accounts timeline lays out your balance sheet across the periods you choose: each account (and account group) is a row, each period a column, and every cell holds that account’s balance at the end of the period. Tap any cell to open the transactions behind it.
- Rows — account groups, parent accounts, and child accounts, plus a net-worth row that totals everything.
- Cells — the balance at the end of each period. Foreign-currency accounts show the converted amount, with the original currency as a secondary line.
- Drill-down — tapping a cell opens the transaction list for that account and period, filtered to match the row you tapped (group, parent, or child).
Categories over time
The categories timeline works the same way for spending: categories are the rows, periods are the columns, and each cell shows what was spent in that category during the period. Tap a cell to see the transactions behind it.
Periods and filters
Both timelines share the same controls:
- Date range — last 3, 6, 9, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, or 120 months, or custom dates.
- Frequency — weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually (the available frequencies depend on the range).
- Filters — accounts, categories, labels, status, and more, from the filter button on the toolbar. The accounts timeline also has the EACR toggle for foreign-currency normalization (see the balance sheet guide), and both can exclude zero amounts.
Export or print
Like the other reports, either timeline can be exported as PDF, Excel, HTML, or printed directly from the app.
Where to find them
Both timeline reports open from the reports area of the app — the accounts timeline from the balance-sheet side, the categories timeline from the net-earnings side. See the balance sheet guide for how the accounts view relates to your net worth, and the cash-flow guide for the other reporting views.
