Reminders and recurring transactions
Set up recurring transactions — daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or custom intervals — with end conditions, weekend handling, and automatic logging of due reminders.
Bluecoins reminders turn a repeating expense or income — rent, salary, subscriptions — into one entry that fires again and again. A reminder is a transaction with a schedule attached, and you set it up from the same transaction form you use for normal entries. Everything you record stays a real, editable transaction; reminders just add the recurrence rules on top.
Recurrence options
The reminder dialog (opened from the transaction form) configures the schedule:
- Frequency — daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly, plus custom “repeat every N” intervals (for example every 2 weeks).
- Start date and time — the first occurrence.
- End condition — never, after a set number of occurrences, or on a specific date.
- Monthly repeat — repeat by day of month or by day of week, for monthly schedules.
- Weekend handling — what happens when an occurrence lands on a weekend: shift it to the previous, next, or nearest weekday, or skip it.
A recurring series is stored as one reminder row per occurrence, all linked together, so editing or deleting one part of the series never silently changes the rest.
Automatic logging
Each reminder can be set to auto-log: when an occurrence becomes due, the app records it as a real transaction for you. Due reminders are turned into ordinary transaction entries in the background — no manual re-entry each cycle. If you prefer to review first, leave auto-logging off and the reminder simply appears in the reminders list when it is due.
Editing a series
When you edit a reminder that has already been generated, the app asks how far the change reaches:
- This reminder only — changes just the one occurrence.
- All — regenerates the whole series from the new schedule.
- From this date onwards — keeps past occurrences untouched and applies the change to everything from the edited date forward.
The same three-way choice applies when deleting part of a series.
Reminders for transfers, splits, and credit cards
Reminders are not limited to simple expenses and income:
- Transfers and splits — a recurring transfer or split transaction can be scheduled like any other entry.
- Credit-card due dates — Bluecoins has a separate credit-card reminder that alerts you when a payment is due, tied to each card’s statement cycle. See the credit cards guide.
The reminders tab
The home screen’s Reminders tab lists upcoming reminders and installments, so what is coming due is visible at a glance without hunting through transactions. The dashboard guide covers how home-screen tabs are arranged.
